Remnant specimen sourcing

Remnant specimens are an option when existing hospital samples can meet your study criteria. Typical available volumes are 1–2 mL. Define the analytes, required results, acceptable collection history, and minimum usable volume so we can determine whether this route fits your project.

Prospective and matched-matrix collections

Prospective collections can be evaluated when your protocol requires specific volumes, defined patient cohorts, or collection timing. Matched collections may include multiple sample matrices from the same donor. State which matrices must be matched, the volume of each, and whether collection at the same visit is required.

Documentation and delivery planning

Sourcing is coordinated under applicable IRB guidance through hospital and laboratory partners. We review the clinical documentation and collection requirements with you before confirming the plan. Processing, temperature, shipment timing, and international destination requirements belong in that discussion because they affect whether a collected sample is suitable for the work you intend.

Common sourcing questions

How do I choose remnant or prospective collection?

Start with your minimum volume, documentation needs, donor criteria, and collection timing. We assess whether available remnant specimens can meet them or whether a prospective collection should be explored.

Can collection and shipping happen on the same day?

Same-day collection and shipping may be arranged subject to feasibility. Share the collection location constraints, required delivery window, and transport conditions at the start.
